About

Emma McBryde is an infectious diseases physician and Professor of Infectious Diseases at University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research (UQCCR). Her research is in mathematical modelling of infectious diseases. She applied this to antibiotic resistant pathogens, emerging infectious diseases and modelling infectious diseases of global significance, including influenza, SARS, Ebola, COVID-19 and tuberculosis. Emma has led consultancies for AusAID, DFAT, and the Global Fund on tuberculosis modelling for public health decision support. She has contributed to consultancies for the Commonwealth Department of Health and participated in Gates funded work on modelling to guide policy in tuberculosis. Emma continues to collaborate with many researchers across Australia with collaborations with University of Melbourne, Monash University, University of Sydney and the Burnet Institute among others. Her research and mentorship in tropical infectious diseases continues, with collaborators across James Cook University and further afield with regional partners.
