A new paper published in IJTLD Open highlights innovative approaches advancing tuberculosis (TB) elimination in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.

Co‑authored by TB‑CRE investigator Ben Marais and colleagues, the study shows how integrating whole genome sequencing, improved data systems, and expanded migrant screening is strengthening TB control.

The authors also emphasise ongoing challenges, including high TB burden among overseas‑born populations and gaps in contact screening and preventive treatment. They argue that sustained innovation, culturally appropriate care, and stronger primary care involvement are essential to accelerate progress towards TB elimination.
