Doctor Examines Patient

A new four-part Series published in The Lancet Microbe highlights the latest advances in tuberculosis (TB) epidemiology, diagnostics, treatment and prevention. Co-authored by TB-CRE investigator Professor Ben Marais and international colleagues, the Series examines key scientific developments and priorities for accelerating progress towards TB elimination.

The papers explore the global TB burden, emerging diagnostic technologies, novel treatment approaches, and the expanding pipeline of vaccines and preventive therapies. Together, they highlight both the promise of recent innovations and the challenges to their implementation, including funding, access and health system barriers.
