We are pleased to announce that Naomi Pank has been awarded the Evelyn Lavu Travel Scholarship, a $5,000 opportunity for an individual from Papua New Guinea to travel to Australia for training or collaborative TB research.

Reflecting on the opportunity, Naomi shared, “I hope to honour the legacy of the late Professor Lavu and gain as much knowledge as I can to continue the fight to end TB.”

Professor Lavu was a distinguished clinician, researcher, and scientist.

This scholarship, supported by Burnet Institute and the TB-CRE, enables recipients to connect with Australian counterparts, fostering collaboration in TB research and elimination efforts in Papua New Guinea.

Naomi will travel to Sydney to attend the TB-CRE Annual Scientific Symposium between 29-30 May, where she aims to share her work and broaden her understanding of TB active case finding, treatment, and prevention.
